Bishkek, July 29, 2024 . / Kabar / . Kyrgyzstan has made significant progress in the field of transplantology, Minister of Health Alymkadyr said at a press conference at Kabar News Agency.
He noted that free kidney transplants have been performed since February of this year. After training in Turkey and Russia, Kyrgyz doctors are now operating 1-2 patients each week.
"There are 150 patients on the waiting list, and surgeries are planned for 10 people in need, but there is a major problem with donors," minister said.
In addition, in June, liver transplant operations were successfully performed for two patients. More than 18,000 people in the country suffer from liver cirrhosis and hepatitis. Abroad, only liver transplantation surgery costs up to USD 150 thousand, as well as the costs of preoperative and postoperative periods.
Beishenaliev also said that the first surgery on bone marrow transplantation for children suffering from cancer will be carried out in the Center for Protection and Maternity soon.
Moreover, under the agreement, Qatari doctors performed 168 cochlear implant surgeries for Kyrgyz children with congenital hearing problems.
Now domestic doctors have been trained in Turkey, Mongolia and Qatar, and they plan to perform similar operations not only for children but also for adults.
