Silk Road Mountain Race with participation of athletes from 40 countries kicks off in Osh

Osh, Aug. 15, 2022 / Kabar /. The International Silk Road Mountain Race started in southern capital of Kyrgyzstan, Osh city.

The cycling race is attended by 163 athletes from 40 countries.

The Silk Road Mountain Race is an international cycling race that has been taking place in Kyrgyzstan since 2018. The creator of the race, Nelson Trees, is the cyclist who traveled by himself from Shanghai to Paris in 2013 on a tandem bike with a friend through Kyrgyzstan. Having arrived in 2017 and 2018, Nelson Trees organized the first cycling race in Kyrgyzstan and wanted to show the remote mountain beauties of the republic to the international cycling community.

This year, the route for the first time starts in Osh through the Dzhiptik Pass, Arslanbob, Kazarman, Naryn, Tamga, the southern shore of Issyk-Kul, Son-Kol Lake, Tosor Pass and ends in Bishkek. The route is 1830 km, the main part of which passes through the mountains and passes. 9 sportsmen are participating from Kyrgyzstan.
