Bishkek, May 5, 2021. / Kabar /. As of May 5, 2021, the situation in all regions and villages of Batken Oblast on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border is stable, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
The border villages are under the full control of police officers. Currently, the situation in the border areas is calm, the report said.
First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Suyun Omurzakov held a meeting with the leaders of 48 operational investigative groups, which conduct a thorough and objective investigation and calculate the damage caused to social facilities, residential buildings and other facilities damaged during the conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, namely in villages Arka-1, Arka-2, Maksat, Kulundu, International, Zhashtyk.
In the course of the incidents, the local police station in the village of Maksat of Leilek region, was completely burned down. Also, police stations located in the villages of Kulundu, Zhany-Zher, Kok-Tash and International Leilek region are affected.
In addition, an attack was made on the building of a police station in the village of Zhany-Zher, Leilek region, all the furniture was destroyed and looted.
The Internal Affairs Directorate of Batken oblast established that two Gazel and Niva vehicles were damaged as a result of the shelling.
In addition, the military unit 707 of the Interior Ministry's Internal Troops, located in the village of Kok-Tash, Batken oblast, was fired upon, windows are broken.
“It is necessary to conduct a thorough and objective investigation into each fact of destruction of residential buildings and structures, thefts in Batken oblas,” said Suyun Omurzakov.
During the meeting, Omurzakov listened to preliminary reports on the ongoing investigation from the group leaders and gave instructions to complete the investigation as soon as possible.
The situation on the border between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan near the Golovnoy water intake facility escalated on April 28, after clashes had sparked between residents of the two countries’ border areas. On April 29, clashes between Kyrgyz and Tajik servicemen broke out. Tajik sides used mortars, machine guns and Mi-24 military helicopters. A ceasefire was established between the countries on May 1.
As a result of the clashes at the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border 36 people died, 189 injured in Kyrgyzstan. Over 100 buildings were burnt or damaged, about 33,000 civilians were evacuated from the conflict zone.
