Bishkek, Sept. 20, 2022 . / Kabar / . The situation in Batken Oblast is stable, but remains tense, Deputy Head of the Public Security Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Nurlan Ismailov said during a press conference at Kabar News Agency.
He added that law enforcement agencies of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan conduct joint patrols and public awareness activities around the clock in order to maintain law and order in the border areas.
Ismailov noted that road safety is ensured. The police are guarding the facilities and homes of the evacuated residents.
"An interdepartmental investigative team has been formed to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances that led to the Tajikistan attack. A thorough inspection of residential houses, government buildings and shopping centers that suffered during the shelling is being carried out and measures are being taken to establish the damage," the representative of the Kyrgyz Interior Ministry said.
The clashes on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border started on Sept. 14.
The Tajik side attacked border guarding and civilian infrastructure objects of Kyrgyzstan along the perimeter of the state border in Batken Oblast. Tajikistan used heavy armored vehicles, multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) and aircraft in an attempt to seize the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic.
According to the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Tajik military destroyed the infrastructure of outposts, as well as schools, kindergartens, retail outlets, first-aid posts, and houses. Shouting nationalist slogans, they showed blasphemy and subjected the bodies of the border guards of the Kyrgyz Republic who died at the post to mockery.
An emergency regime has been introduced in Batken Oblast.
