At present, the situation in Batken Oblast remains tense, and the police are working in a reinforced mode, Deputy Head of the Public Security Servicd of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Nurlan Ismailov said during a press conference at Kabar News Agency.
He noted that the Interior Ministry officers and soldiers of the Interior Troops in Batken have switched to a reinforced mode.
"In connection with the incidents in Batken and Leilek regions, police patrols consisting of officers of the Interior Ministry are working round the clock. In addition, police officers are conducting explanatory work among local residents on the prevention of provocative actions. At present, the situation remains tense, and law enforcement officers are working to ensure security," the representative of the Interior Ministry said.
The clashes on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border started on Sept. 14.
According to the Board Guard Service of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan attacked border guarding and civilian infrastructure objects of Kyrgyzstan along the perimeter of the state border in Batken Oblast.
On Sept. 16 evening, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan reached agreement on ceasefire. However, the Tajik side having violated the previously reached agreements, fired mortars at Kyrgyz villages in another Osh Oblast of Kyrgyzstan on Saturday.
