Bishkek, March 25, 2021. / Kabar /. The situation with polio is stable in Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the Ministry of Health and Social Development reported.
According to the Republican Center for Immunoprophylaxis, all the necessary measures are being taken on the territory of Kyrgyzstan to prevent the import of circulating vaccine-derived poliovirus type 2 (cVDPV2) into the territory of Kyrgyzstan.
On March 8, 2021, WHO reviewed information on detected cases of circulating vaccine-derived poliovirus type 2 (cVDPV2) in Tajikistan and classified this outbreak as a level 2 emergency.
In connection with the registration of cVDPV2 cases in the neighboring republic of Tajikistan, the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic strengthened anti-epidemiological measures in order to prevent the import of cases from Tajikistan.
Since 1993, there has been no registration of wild and vaccine-related polioviruses in Kyrgyzstan. Since 2002, the country has been certified as a "Polio Free Country". In Kyrgyzstan, there is objective evidence that there is no circulation of wild and vaccine-related polioviruses.
