Situation on Kyrgyz-Tajik border is stable

Bishkek, May 8, 2024. /Kabar/. The situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border is stable, the Batken regional state administration reported.

Head of the region Abdikarim Alimbaev and head of the Sughd region of Tajikistan Rajobboy Akhmadzoda had a telephone conversation.

The sides agreed to ensure public safety in the border areas of the two regions and noted that the incident that occurred on May 7 on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border will not affect the overall security of the region.

In addition, on May 8 at 11.00 a meeting of the heads of the forces of Batken and Sughd regions will take place at the scene of the incident, and an agreement was reached to investigate the incident on the spot.

On Tuesday there was an incident with the use of firearms on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border.
