Bishkek, March 14, 2019. / Kabar /. The situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border has escalated, the press service of the State Border Service reported.
Today at 16:10 the situation has become more tense - the people of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan began to throw stones at each other.
“In order to somehow resolve the situation, the border guards were forced to make a warning shot in the air, no one was hurt. Now all the forces are left to ensure that the residents of both countries do not cross the border, as in this case, the police of both sides will be forced to open fire,” the press service said.
The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs added that at the moment all the security personnel work at the site, they provide public safety.
On March 13, at 15:30 hours there was a conflict between the inhabitants of the village. The cause of the conflict was the construction work of bypass road in Batken oblast.
About 200 residents of the border villages of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan gathered at the border and, after a verbal scuffle, began throwing stones at each other.
