A round table to discuss the situation with coronavirus was held in Bishkek at Kyrgyz National University. The event was organized by the Public Foundation “Kyrgyzstan-China Friendship Society” and Kyrgyz National University. Chinese Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic Du Dewen shared the latest official data on the situation with the Covid-19 coronavirus in China.

Speaking at the round table, Ambassador Du Dewen said that the situation with the new type of coronavirus in China regarding new cases of the disease has declined, and at the same time, the number of people recovering from the disease has increased.

Thus, according to her data, by Feb. 25, in China there are 77 thousand 658 cases of confirmed cases of infection. 508 of them are new cases today. At the same time, 27 thousand 323 people recovered from the disease, 2 thousand 663 died.

“Starting Feb. 13, the daily number of newly confirmed cases is declining. On Feb. 12, 15 thousand 152 people were registered, and today only 508. The number of new confirmed cases only in Hubei province is still in three-digit numbers. Many provinces no longer have new cases of the disease recently. And on Feb. 24, in 30 provinces, with the exception of Hubei Province, only 9 new cases were registered. Starting from Feb. 18, the daily number of recovered patients already exceeds the number of new confirmed cases of infection,” the ambassador informed.

Du Dewen noted that these data show that the situation with the epidemic of a new type of coronavirus is changing for the better. “The epidemiological situation in China is under control. The sudden outbreak of the epidemic posed a serious challenge to China and the world. The actions of the official authorities of China, which immediately notified the world community about a new type of coronavirus and took effective measures to prevent the spread of the virus, deserve respect,” she said.

“After the outbreak, under the unified leadership and command of the CPC Central Committee, the Chinese government concentrated all national resources and took comprehensive and rigorous measures to prevent and control the incidence of disease. Tens of thousands of medical experts headed to Wuhan. The government quickly built a medical complex in the province. Medical equipment and cargo arrive in Wuhan by air, trains and trucks. The high ability to mobilize the Chinese government creates a high level of support in the fight against the epidemic,” said the Chinese diplomat.

Speaking about the scale, the ambassador noted that deploying prevention and control of the epidemic in the territory of 9.6 million square kilometers and uniting almost one and a half billion people in the fight against coronavirus is an unprecedented and unimaginable phenomenon in many countries.

“The Chinese people are fighting the epidemic together. It can be said that every Chinese made an effort and contributed to the fight against coronavirus. The virus has no state borders. From the very beginning, China has taken an open and transparent position and timely informs the world community about the situation with the epidemic. The responsible attitude and decisive measures of China are highly appreciated by WHO, which in turn expresses confidence that China will defeat the coronavirus,” the ambassador added.

She noted that China and Kyrgyzstan are related neighbors and strategic partners. She expressed gratitude to the Kyrgyz people for their friendly support and assistance in the fight against the epidemic.

“President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbai Jeenbekov specially sent a message of condolences to Chinese President Xi Jinping. Last week, humanitarian aid was delivered to the Chinese side from the Kyrgyz side, these are antiseptic and disinfectants, medical masks and others. I was especially touched by the actions of ordinary Kyrgyzstanis; one pensioner in Bishkek sent his monthly pension of $ 200 to the Chinese Red Cross Fund. The famous poet of Kyrgyzstan, Mr. Pazylov, specially dedicated his poetry to the city of Wuhan. Teachers and students of the Kyrgyz-Chinese faculty of the Kyrgyz National University, consisting of more than 300 people, signed a collective letter expressing support for the Chinese people. Today, many schools and educational institutions in Kyrgyzstan have expressed support for the Chinese people through conferences. As they say, a friend in need is friend indeed. We will never forget the help and support provided to us by the brotherly Kyrgyz people,” Du Dewen said.

She expressed confidence that the epidemic will not affect the growth dynamics of the Chinese economy. The impact of the coronavirus epidemic on the global economy will be limited, and its duration will be relatively short. Therefore, the general trend of favorable development of the Chinese economy will not change, since the Chinese economy is characterized by a powerful driving force and great flexibility.

“During the meeting of the ministers of finance and the heads of central banks of the country on Feb. 24, the Minister of Finance, experts from many countries expressed confidence and ability of China to prevent the epidemic and resume production. China is taking effective measures to minimize the negative impact of the new type of coronavirus epidemic on economic development. Normalization of the Chinese economy is expected in the second quarter of this year. We hope that the Chinese and Kyrgyz sides will make joint efforts to reduce the negative impact of the epidemic on trade and economic cooperation between China and Kyrgyzstan,” said Du Dewen.

In turn, Rector of Kyrgyz National University Kanat Sydykov noted that such a meeting allows obtaining reliable information from primary sources. “About a month ago, we were one of the first to take this information firsthand. From an official source from China, we received information on how coronavirus is distributed and measures to combat it. The pace of development was alarming in our country too. We were in contact with almost every student who was in China, none of them fell ill, and they all returned to Kyrgyzstan. And according to the latest reliable information, there are no cases of coronavirus infection in Kyrgyzstan,” Sydykov emphasized.

In addition, the head of the university handed over the money to the Chinese Ambassador to transfer to the Chinese Red Cross Fund to help fight the coronavirus.

Speaking at the round table, ex-deputy of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan, businessman Askar Salymbekov noted that the economic situation in China could lead to a recession in the global economy, since almost all countries of the world are connected with the Chinese economy. “Now they say, look for other markets. Turkey, Pakistan, India, but they are also connected with China. Accessories, threads, fabrics, everything comes from China. We must pray that the epidemic ends in China more quickly and the Chinese economy is fully operational. Because it is a global economic crisis. This will affect all the countries,” Salymbekov said.

At the same time, the ex-deputy expressed confidence that thanks to the discipline and order established by the Chinese government, the epidemic will be defeated.

“But it is alarming that the virus spreads around the world: to countries such as Japan, South Korea, Italy, America and nobody is immune. This virus knows no boundaries. And this is very fraught for all countries, especially for developing countries with weak economies. We must carefully check, and must be very vigilant, and we must not stand aside, because thousands of our entrepreneurs are connected with the Chinese economy. Almost all countries of the world are connected with the Chinese economy,” concluded Salymbekov.

As for students of Kyrgyzstan, studying at universities in China, rector Kanat Sydykov expressed hope that after the epidemic is over, Kyrgyz students will be able to continue their studies.

Altynay, a student, who was studying in the Chinese city of Wuhan, said, at the time of the outbreak of the epidemic in Wuhan, there was no panic, as the government very quickly opened hot lines, including for foreign citizens.

“I studied in Wuhan, and when the epidemic started, I was there. The government very quickly set up hotlines, there was a separate line for foreigners, we quickly received information. In Wuhan, there is no panic, the residents reacted calmly. The only thing that has been inconvenient, it has become very boring to stay at home, since everyone does not leave the house, only grocery stores work. And when a person is in such a situation, that is, forced to sit at home, it is boring, annoying. But in general there is no panic. On Feb. 2, when we were taken out, everything was at the highest level. We left before the outbreak that occurred on Feb. 14-15. We are very grateful. We were evacuated on the day when other foreigners were taken. Our quarantine took place in a military hospital, we stayed there for 14 days, we had no contacts with anyone. We were forbidden to leave the room, we measured the temperature 5-6 times a day, we took all kinds of tests, ultrasound, fluorography, and everything necessary. The quarantine went very well, thanks to all the doctors that everything was well organized,” Altynay shared.

To date, 146 people are under observation in Kyrgyzstan due to the threat of new type of coronavirus infection, 531 people are under the supervision of doctors. These are people who came from China and third countries where there is epidemiological instability due to the outbreak of a new coronavirus.

“In 22 sanitary-epidemiological centers, we conduct a survey of arrived passengers, where we fill out a questionnaire and conduct surveys,” said Baktygul Ismailova, chief specialist of the Public Health Department .

She said that, the number of test systems for determining a new coronavirus is in sufficient quantity. “Test systems were obtained from Russia and Turkey, according to mutual agreements,” said Ismailova.

The specialist noted that today there are no new cases of coronavirus in the country, and the epidemiological situation in the country is stable.
