An incident with the use of weapons occurred on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border at about 10:50 local time, while at an undescribed section of the border in the Teskei area of Batken Oblast of Kyrgyzstan, the border guard of Tajikistan, having changed the previously used route, went to a new border guard line and demanded the border guards of Kyrgyzstan to leave this section, the report said.
The reinforcements of the Tajik border guards arrived in the place. After that, the border guards of Tajikistan, using their numerical superiority, tried to reach a new frontier, the press service added.
However, the Kyrgyz border guards did not allow the Tajik servicemen to realize their intentions. As a result, a shootout began, which lasted about 10 minutes. No wounded or injured reported from the Kyrgyz side, the Kyrgyz border service said.
After the incident, a telephone conversation took place between the border representatives of the countries, as a result of which decisions were made to withdraw border detachments from the scene of the incident until the arrival of border representatives and to prevent the deployment of other additional forces and means to the site. At the moment, the border representatives of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan are negotiating.
The Border Service of Kyrgyzstan notes that the Teskei area is an undescribed section of the state border, but is actually used by citizens of Kyrgyzstan. Border units stationed in Batken region have been transferred to a reinforced mode of service, the report said.
