Smugglers stage shootout with security officers in Batken

Bishkek, March 11, 2021 / Kabar /. During the investigation, the citizens of Kyrgyzstan put up armed resistance to the officers of the special service, the press service of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

It is specified that the State Committee for National Security, as part of its activities to identify and suppress the flow of smuggling across the state border, continues to carry out appropriate active measures in Batken Oblast, through which one of the most intensive routes of illegal movement of goods runs, causing a fair mass indignation of the citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic - residents of border settlements. Residents, dissatisfied with the incessant smuggling, express outrage, accusing government agencies of "inaction" and demanding to take appropriate measures.

On March 11, 2021, in the village of Samarkandek in Batken Oblast, more than 20 citizens, led by a Kyrgyz citizen Mashirap Abdusalamov, physically resisted the security officers using firearms in order to avoid the detention of the contraband cargo. Trying in this way to provoke a massive clash of a group of smugglers with the employees of the State Committee for National Security in order to prevent the procedural documentation of the crime.

Two out of six heavy-duty trucks without state registration plates managed to escape on the other side of the border.

As a result of the provocation, two employees of the State Committee for National Security were injured.

At present, the participants in the incident are detained, an investigative-operational group is working on the spot together with the Department of Internal Affairs.

On this fact, the State Committee for National Security continues the appropriate investigative and operational measures to establish all the circumstances and participants in the crime.
