Kara-Kul, Oct.18, 2019. /Kabar/. As part of the working visit to Dzhalal-Abad Oblast, President SooronbayJeenbekov visited Toktogul HPP.
During the visit, the Kyrgyz leader will get acquainted with the operation of the hydroelectric power plant and preparation for the deficit period.
Jeenbekov will also award representatives of the energy sector on occasion of the 85th anniversary of Kyrgyzstan’s energy system.
The issue of completing the first phase of reconstruction of the Toktogul HPP will also be considered today.
In 2017, Sooronbay Jeenbekov as Prime Minister launched the first phase of reconstruction of the Toktogul HPP.
Note that three phases are envisaged within the framework of the reconstruction of the Toktogul HPP. The reconstruction is financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
Under the first phase, the ADB allocated $40 million in grant and $15 million in concessional loans. The Bank additionally provided $110 million for the second phase, with co-financing from the Eurasian Development Bank in the amount of $100 million and $110 million for the third phase to replace the four units of the station and increase capacity by 20%.
The ADB’s press service noted as part of efficient use of funds in all three phrases, it was possible to save $100 million, which will be spent on the reconstruction of the Uch-Kurgan HPP.
