Bishkek, July 2, 2019. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov expressed condolences to President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin in connection with the victims and destruction caused by floods in the eastern Siberian Irkutsk region, the press service of the President reported.
“With a feeling of deep empathy I took the news of victims and destructions as a result of the flood in the Irkutsk region. I ask you to convey the words of sincere condolences and support to the families and friends of the victims, as well as wishes of speedy recovery to all the victims,” the letter of condolence said.
Heavy rains in the Irkutsk region led to the rise of rivers. The water level in the rivers far exceeded critical levels, 14 people died in the floods, over 191 were hospitalized and 13 more remain missing. Over 2,000 people have been evacuated from the affected areas.
