Bishkek, Jan.24, 2020. /Kabar/. "The fight against corruption will continue. We will strengthen the fight with the support of media and the civil sector,” President Sooronbay Jeenbekov said on Friday during the regular meeting of the Security Council.
He recalled all decisions taken by the Security Council in 2018, 2019 were aimed at fighting corruption. Huge sums were returned to the budget, at the expense of which schools for children are being built.
"Corruption is a universal problem, a phenomenon that concerns our society as well. Unfortunately, corruption continues to pose a threat to our national security. It hinders our development and remains a serious problem which harms every citizen and foreign investor," the President noted.
The Kyrgyz leaders stressed the today’s meeting considered the implementation of the earlier decisions, openly highlighting achievements and shortcomings.
He called digitalization the main weapon in the fight against corruption.
"Digitalization remains a priority area of my presidential activity. We view it as a long-term, necessary policy that will never be stopped. New technologies will be actively introduced to eradicate corruption schemes in the mining industry. By introducing transparency in this sphere, we will dramatically reduce the level of corruption," he noted.
"At the next Security Council’s meeting, we will consider health issues, a little later than the energy sector. Every civil servant who promotes Kyrgyzstan's interests should actively fight against corruption, and every citizen should provide support against this disease in society," the President said.
In conclusion, the head of state once again called on government leaders to work honestly for the benefit of the country and the people.
The regular meeting of the Security Council of Kyrgyzstan with the participation of President Sooronbay Jeenbekov was held at the Ala-Archa state residence.
There were two issues on the meeting’s agenda: the implementing the decisions of the Security Council and proposals to the list of strategic objects of Kyrgyz Republic.
The Council also considered the implementation of the decisions of the Security Council "On urgent measures to combat corruption in judicial, supervisory and law enforcement agencies of the Kyrgyz Republic", "On measures for digital development of the Kyrgyz Republic", "On measures to ensure security in the field of subsoil use of the Kyrgyz Republic”.
The Security Council of the Kyrgyz Republic consists of the President - Chairman of the Council, parliament speaker, prime minister, head of the President’s Office, chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, deputy PM, chairman of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament) in charge of defense and security issues, the Security Council’s secretary, prosecutor general, Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Finance, Internal Affairs, Emergency Situations, Chairmen of the State Border Service and State Committee for National Security.
