Sooronbay Jeenbekov meets with Vladimir Putin

Bishkek, Sept. 28, 2020. /Kabar/. Today, Sept. 28 President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov met in Sochi with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.

The issues of further development of bilateral strategic partnership and alliance, including cooperation in trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as prospects for deeper integration within the Eurasian Economic Union were discussed, the Kyrgyz president’s press service reported.

Vladimir Putin noted that the Russian Federation respects the sovereignty of any independent country and will continue to develop relations with Kyrgyzstan in the spirit of alliance and strategic partnership.

He also wished further success in implementing measures to develop Kyrgyzstan. Vladimir Putin emphasized that the Russian side is interested in stability in the country, including the post-election period.

"You know that we consistently support your efforts, the efforts of the Kyrgyz leadership in the domestic political stabilization in the country. We are eager that thanks to your efforts it will continue. For our part, we will do everything possible to support you as Head of State, and Kyrgyzstan, the people of Kyrgyzstan, in the implementation of those large-scale goals that you set for the development of the country," the Russia leader said.

President Jeenbekov noted Kyrgyzstan always feels the firm shoulder of Russia as a true strategic ally, especially in the current difficult times.

He once again congratulated Vladimir Putin on the world's first registration of a vaccine against coronavirus infection, expressing the hope that it will soon be available to the public and the citizens of Kyrgyzstan.

The Kyrgyz leader noted the interest in continuing mutually beneficial cooperation on energy and infrastructure projects, increasing trade and economic cooperation, including within the Eurasian Economic Union.

President Jeenbekov expressed gratitude to the Russian side for the support provided in a number of areas, and noted that Kyrgyzstan cherishes historical friendly relations with Russia, which have been tested for centuries.

The parties expressed readiness to deepen further cooperation on the whole range of issues of mutual interest.

President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov is in Russia for a working visit.

The delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic includes: Minister of Foreign Affairs Chyngyz Aidarbekov, Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the President’s Office Daniyar Sydykov, Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Russian Federation Alikbek Dzhekshenkulov.

After his working visit to Russia, the Kyrgyz president will fly to Hungary for official visit.
