Bishkek, Dec.25, 2019. /Kabar/. The Safe City Project is functioning in Kyrgyzstan, and we needed it very much," President Sooronbay Jeenbekov said at his press conference at the Ala Archa state residence.
The President said the Government has been trying to implement the Safe City since 2011, but attempts have not been successful. The project is yielding good results, and the number of accidents is falling: their number reduced by 40% in Bishkek and 50% in Chui Oblast.
"The second phase of the Safe City project will be implemented in seven oblasts, in Osh and in major population centers," he said.
The Kyrgyz leader also added the process of digitalization in the customs sector has also intensified. The process of full modernization of 12 customs checkpoints was completed this year. An online video surveillance system was installed at 9 customs checkpoints and 4 customs clearance points.
The total number of installed video cameras is 506, 14 of which are integrated into the Tunduk electronic interaction system.
The Kyrgyz President’s press conference took place today, Dec.25 at the Ala-Archa state residence in Bishkek.
A total of 188 journalists have been accredited for the event.
Of these, 160 journalists are from 77 national media and 28 journalists - from 15 foreign media, accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Note that this is the second press conference of Sooronbay Jeenbekov as the President.
