Bishkek, Nov.28, 2019. /Kabar/. President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov met on Thursday, Nov. 28 with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, his press service said.
The meeting was held as part of the regular session of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), held today in Bishkek under the chairmanship of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Jeenbekov noted the bilateral relations between Kyrgyzstan and Russia have active dynamics, and fruitful cooperation between the countries continues in all areas of cooperation.
He expressed gratitude to the Russian President for active and fruitful cooperation within the framework of the CSTO, as well as in the bilateral format.
“We are always glad to see you in Kyrgyzstan, you are perceived in our country as a close and true friend," said Jeenbekov.
The Kyrgyz President expressed confidence that cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Russia will continue in the spirit of alliance and strategic partnership.
Vladimir Putin thanked Sooronbay Jeenbekov for his work in the framework of Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship of the CSTO this year. He noted Kyrgyzstan has demonstrated leadership on many issues that are important for the development of not only bilateral relations, but also in terms of cooperation in the region.
The Russian leader emphasized the bilateral relations between the countries are developing very successfully, the true strategic partnership and alliance is reflected in all spheres of interstate and political relations.
Putin expressed his gratitude to the Kyrgyz side for supporting Russian initiatives in the UN and other venues.
He stated Russia is one of the leaders in economic contacts with Kyrgyzstan - in 2018 mutual trade turnover increased by more than 17%, while Kyrgyzstan's exports to Russia grew by 22%.
The CSTO Summit in Bishkek was attended by Presidents of Kyrgyzstan - Sooronbay Jeenbekov, Belarus - Alexander Lukashenko, Kazakhstan - Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Russia - Vladimir Putin, Tajikistan - Emomali Rahmon, as well as Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, CIS Executive Secretary Sergey Lebedev and CSTO Acting Secretary General Valery Semerikov.
