Bishkek, Sept. 21, 2020. /Kabar/. Today, Sept. 21, Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov made a video message at the 75th anniversary session of the UN General Assembly, his press service reported.

The Kyrgyz leader’s address says:

"Dear Mr. Secretary General,

Dear Mr. Chairman!

Ladies and gentlemen,

On behalf of the Kyrgyz Republic, I welcome all participants of the jubilee session.

Anniversary 75th year of our Organization is held in difficult conditions. The COVID-19 pandemic has become one of the major challenges of global scale since the founding of the UN.

I express my condolences to all those who have lost their relatives and friends. I wish a speedy recovery to all who are struggling with this disease.

The pandemic had a negative impact on the social sphere and economy of our countries. Small and medium businesses have been affected. Kyrgyzstan is grateful to partner countries and international organizations for their support during this difficult time.

The impact of the coronavirus has had a strong impact on external debt. I express my gratitude to the G20 and international financial institutions for the decision to suspend debt payments.

We also ask for support in our proposal for a deep restructuring of external debt in exchange for sustainable development projects.

Dear participants!

Kyrgyzstan supports reforms of the UN Secretary General. It is important to preserve the principles of universality, efficiency and wide geographical representation of small countries.

Kyrgyzstan has put forward its candidacy for non-permanent membership in the Security Council for the coming years. We also attach great importance to the protection of human rights, the rule of law and democracy.

We ask for your support in the next elections to the Human Rights Council.

Dear Mr. Chairman!

As a UN member state, the Kyrgyz Republic contributes to its development. Our global initiatives in the field of ecology, development of mountainous countries and preservation of historical heritage have been supported by the international community. The Kyrgyz Republic attaches special importance to strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation in Central Asia.

We are committed to further strengthening relationships with our allies and strategic partners. Kyrgyzstan recognizes the key role of regional organizations in addressing socio-economic issues and ensuring security.

Ladies and Gentlemen!

This year we are discussing the future of our Organization, principles of multilateralism and counteraction to the global epidemic.

This theme accurately reflects the difficult situation in the world.

Kyrgyzstan is ready to do its best to overcome these challenges.

Thank you for your attention!”
