Sooronbay Jeenbekov’s address to session of Kyrgyz Parliament

Bishkek, June 30, 2020. /Kabar/. Today, June 30 President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov attended a session of the Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament).

At the session, a ceremony of swearing-in by new members of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic was held with the participation of President Jeenbekov.

Afterwards, the President addressed the Kyrgyz people in connection with the pandemic and the upcoming elections.

The Kyrgyz leader outlined the priority tasks of the Government in mitigating the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic, maintaining the pace and development of the economy.

He noted a significant increase in cases of virus infection, which occurred due to non-compliance with sanitary rules in public places and the resumption of festivities.

Jeenbekov called on the Republican Headquarters to officially ban mass festivities, which exacerbate the epidemiological situation in the country.

He focused on the implementation of measures to digitalize the economy and support business, as well as ensuring the targeted and transparent use of donor funds.

The head of state also touched upon the issue of ensuring fairness in all stages of the Jogorku Kenesh elections.

In addition, Sooronbay Jeenbekov talked about the fight against corruption through the introduction of digitalization, increasing the country's export potential and plans to use the returned illegally distributed land. He noted topics on judicial and legal reform, digitalization of the country, regional development, foreign policy, borders and many others.

"Legal, economic and social foundations necessary for the development of our country have already been formed. Reforms will lead to the necessary results. We are striving to build a prosperous society, which will be engaged in creative work, thanks to which citizens can rest and travel with dignity, and children have strong health and receive quality education. I want to assure you that we have every opportunity to achieve our goals," concluded the Kyrgyz President.
