Speaker Dzhumabekov meets Speaker of Hungarian Parliament László Kövér in Izmir

Bishkek, Nov. 22, 2018. /Kabar/. Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament) Dastanbek Dzhumabekov met with Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary László Kövér in Izmir, Turkey, during the working visit of the Kyrgyz parliamentary delegation to participate in the 8th plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-Speaking States.

During the meeting, prospects for bilateral and inter-parliamentary cooperation between the countries were discussed. Dzhumabekov, speaking of common historical values, stated the need to develop comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

“Hungary, being an example of strengthened parliamentary democracy and introduction of socio-economic reforms, has demonstrated the importance of the development of civil society. I am confident that inter-parliamentary cooperation will contribute to the development of bilateral relations between the two countries. For the purposes of establishing strong and stable parliamentarism in Kyrgyzstan, the Development Strategy of the Jogorku Kenesh until 2021 has been adopted, the implementation of which is being carried out in close cooperation with international partners,” the Speaker said.

He also expressed his gratitude to the Hungarian Parliament for active participation in the autumn session of the OSCE PA, which took place in Bishkek from 3 to 6 October this year. In addition, Dzhumabekov spoke about the need to develop trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

“Kyrgyzstan is interested in the development of trade and economic ties with Hungary. I am confident that the meeting of the intergovernmental trade and economic commission in the spring of 2019 will be fruitful,” Dzhumabekov said.

During the discussion on cultural and humanitarian cooperation, Dzhumabekov recalled that the Government of Hungary increased the scholarship quota for students from Kyrgyzstan from 25 to 75 places from September 1, 2018. The Kyrgyz side, in turn, also expressed its willingness to accept Hungarian students and scholars.

Dzhumabekov also invited Kövér to pay an official visit to Kyrgyzstan.

In turn, Kövér thanked Dzhumabekov for the invitation and expressed satisfaction with the development of relations between the countries, including the inter-parliamentary cooperation.

“A group of friendship with parliamentarians from Kyrgyzstan has been established in the National Assembly of Hungary. Great hope is being placed on parliamentary friendship groups to strengthen inter-parliamentary ties and bilateral cooperation. I would like to note that a number of projects have been implemented to improve the legislative activity of the Hungarian Parliament. Thus, we have a lot of opportunities for sharing experience,” Kövér said

In addition, the sides discussed cooperation in the fight against terrorism and extremism. The Government of Hungary took part in the plenary meeting of TurkPA as an observer.

A parliamentary delegation headed by Speaker Dastanbek Dzhumabekov is on a working visit to Izmir. The parliamentary delegation includes the following deputies: Salaydin Aidarov, Kaldarbek Baimuratov, Abylkaiyr Uzakbayev, Sadik Sher-Niyaz, Iskender Matraimov.
