Speaker Dzhumabekov pays tribute to memory of victims of June 2010 events

Bishkek, June 12, 2020. /Kabar/. Today, June 12 Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament) Dastanbek Dzhumabekov honored the memory of those who died on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the June 2010 events.

The speaker laid flowers at the Sanpa Monument in Dzhalal-Abad town, the Parliament's press service reported.

After laying flowers, a memorial prayer was recited.

Dastanbek Dzhumabekov expressed his condolences to the relatives of the victims.

"The June 2010 events were one of the saddest pages in the history of independent Kyrgyzstan. The tragedy of those days has left a heavy mark on the memory and souls of all Kyrgyz people.

We pay tribute to the deep memory of those who died in tragic days, we mourn for those who became victims of brutal violence," Dzhumabekov added.

Speaking to the victims' relatives and participants in the events, Dzhumabekov said this tragedy will forever remain in hearts and will be echoed by pain.

Also, on behalf of MPs, the speaker provided financial support to the relatives of the victims. The money was transferred to Dzhalal-Abad Oblast governor and the Sanpa Sheiittery association.

Ten years ago, on June 10, 2010 the clashes between Uzbeks and Kyrgyz have started in the south of Kyrgyzstan.

Hundreds of people were killed during the ethnic conflict. Dozens of people remain missing.
