During the meeting, held under the chairmanship of Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament) Dastanbek Dzhumabekov, information on the implementation of previously adopted decisions of the Council was heard, then a number of bills were considered.
Among them, special attention was paid to the prospects of beekeeping development and use of export opportunities of the country.
Information on this issue was presented by President of the Association of Beekeepers of the Kyrgyz Republic Jakshylyk Duishenaliyev.
He noted currently there are 79 honey-producing enterprises in Kyrgyzstan.
At the end of 2019, the country produced about 2 thousand tons of honey, 493 tons of which were exported.
"Our country has great potential to produce honey - 12 thousand tons annually. Besides, natural conditions, rich honey-bearing base of the republic allow producing honey unique in its composition and quality. High productivity was noted in the 90s, and it reached 12,000 tons," the Association president added.
Parliament Speaker Dastanbek Dzhumabekov stressed beekeeping can be a highly profitable branch of agriculture, pointing out the need for government support for the beekeeping business.
"During recent visit to Arab countries, I noticed a great interest of these states in Kyrgyz honey. As you know, honey from Kyrgyzstan, presented at various international exhibitions, often receives the highest awards. In this regard, we must make every effort to raise this industry to a qualitatively new level and increase exports of environmentally friendly products to countries both near and far abroad," the speaker noted.
