Bishkek, April 25 / Kabar /. Within the framework of the official visit of the parliamentary delegation of Kyrgyzstan to the Islamic Republic of Iran, Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Chynybai Tursunbekov met with chairman of the Mejlis of the Islamic Council of Iran Ali Larijani, the press service of the Kyrgyz Parliament reports.
The meeting exchanged views on the state and prospects for further development of cooperation in political, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as deepening inter-parliamentary ties.
The Kyrgyz Speaker noted the symbolism of this visit, which is being carried out on the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two states. "I am confident that the current visit of the parliamentary delegation will open a new page not only in inter-parliamentary cooperation, but will also become a great impetus for the development of the entire range of bilateral relations between Kyrgyzstan and Iran," he said.
The Speaker also said that the development of interparliamentary cooperation with Iran is a priority in the agenda of the bilateral partnership.
At the meeting, the sides thoroughly discussed the issues of inter-parliamentary cooperation. In particular, they emphasized that the legislative bodies of the two states make a huge contribution to deepening and expanding cooperation between the states.
The Kyrgyz Speaker said that the opening of direct flights in the near future and simplified procedure of visa issuance to Iranian citizens will allow to increase trade turnover rapidly, as well as to create necessary conditions for deepening cooperation in agriculture, trade, hydropower, tourism etc.
Tursunbekov stressed that Kyrgyzstan and Iran cooperate not only within the framework of bilateral cooperation, but also within the framework of various international and regional organizations. In this context, the Speaker mentioned the Organization for Economic Cooperation (OIC), in which the construction of the railway "China-Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan-Afghanistan-Iran" is being considered.
In his turn, Chairman of the Mejlis of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ali Larijani expressed interest in building up closer interparliamentary relations with Kyrgyzstan. "We are interested in developing fruitful relations with the countries that are on the way in building parliamentary democracy," Larijani added. The Iranian Speaker highly appreciated the efforts of the Kyrgyz side in building parliamentary democracy in the region.
The Chairman of the Mejlis of Iran also touched upon the cooperation in the sphere of agriculture, in particular, Larijani expressed a high interest in the export of meat from Kyrgyzstan and suggested the Kyrgyz side to send a list of companies ready to export this product to Iran.
At the end of the meeting, Tursunbekov invited Chairman of the Mejlis A.Larijani to pay an official visit to Kyrgyzstan.
