Speaker of Kyrgyz Parliament takes part in CSTO PA Council videoconference

Bishkek, June 15, 2020. /Kabar/. Today, June 15 Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament) Dastanbek Dzhumabekov took part in an online conference of the Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Parliamentary Assembly (CSTO PA), the press service of the Parliament reported.

The session of the CSTO PA Council was also attended by heads of CSTO parliamentary delegations - Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia and Tajikistan, observers in the CSTO PA - members of the National Assembly of Serbia and Wolesi Jirga of Afghanistan, representatives of the CSTO and CSTO PA secretariats. ⠀

The videoconference was moderated by Chairman of the CSTO PA, Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federal Assembly Vyacheslav Volodin.

One of the central themes of the conference was the outcome of the CSTO PA program of activities on rapprochement and harmonization of national legislation of the member states for 2016-2020, as well as the draft of this program for 2021-2025. ⠀

Speaking on this topic, Dzhumabekov noted the substantial work of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly.

"The organization has played a huge role in bringing together, harmonizing and improving the legislation of our countries, and has been able to develop and adopt hundreds of model laws and recommendations," he said.

For his part, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin drew colleagues' attention to the fight against coronavirus infection. He called for strengthening the CSTO capacity to respond to challenges such as the spread of COVID-19.

Dastanbek Dzhumabekov thanked the Russian speaker for the organization of the videoconference, and expressed hope that soon the world will cope with the situation on coronavirus.
