Bishkek, Feb. 19, 2024. /Kabar/. Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Nurlanbek Shakiev will visit the UK in March, the press service of the parliament reported.
Organizational issues were discussed today by Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs, Defense, Security and Migration of the Jogorku Kenesh, Ulan Primov, and Ambassador of Great Britain to the Kyrgyz Republic, Nicholas Bowler.
The parties exchanged views on the program, in particular, planned meetings with officials of the UK Parliament and Executive Branch.
Primov noted that for the first time in the history of bilateral relations a visit is expected at such a high parliamentary level.
In turn, Bowler, noting the development of bilateral cooperation in a positive direction, expressed confidence that the speaker’s visit will serve as an impetus for strengthening both interparliamentary and interstate relations.
In addition, he informed about the ongoing work of the British Embassy with the relevant government bodies of Great Britain and Kyrgyzstan to carry out a rich and meaningful program for the visit of the Kyrgyz parliamentary delegation.
The meeting was also attended by the head of the parliamentary friendship group of the Jogorku Kenesh for cooperation with the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, Zhanarbek Akaev.
He highly appreciated the level of the current state of relations between Kyrgyzstan and the UK, and also touched upon the issue of attracting Kyrgyz labor migrants to the British seasonal agricultural work program.
In conclusion, the parties expressed confidence that relations between Kyrgyzstan and the UK will continue to actively develop and expand.
