Bishkek, April 24, 2024 / Kabar/. Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurlanbek Shakiev met in Ulaanbaatar with Chairman of the State Great Khural of Mongolia Gombozhavyn Zandanshatar, the press service of the Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
The parties greeted each other in the square, where a guard of honor was formed, and then paid tribute in front of the monument to Genghis Khan. Nurlanbek Shakiev also left his wishes in the Book of Honored Guests.
The meeting continued in an expanded format, during which issues of increasing political, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties between the two countries, as well as deepening inter-parliamentary cooperation were discussed.
Speaker Nurlanbek Shakiev expressed gratitude to Chairman of the State Great Khural of Mongolia Gombozhavin Zandanshatar for the warm welcome and greetings in the Kyrgyz language.
Nurlanbek Shakiev emphasized that Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia are brought together by the Altai civilization and deep historical ties.
“In recent years, our cooperation has been actively developing. Last year, the head of Kyrgyzstan paid official visit Mongolia, during which important agreements were reached aimed at enhancing interstate relations,” he said, paying special attention to the fact that the opening of the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Ulaanbaatar contributes to the expansion of comprehensive cooperation.
At the same time, the speaker focused on the positive achievements during the official visit of Chairman of the State Great Khural of Mongolia Gombozhavin Zandanshatar, which took place in February of this year.
During the meeting, trade and economic relations were also discussed. “For the Kyrgyz side, it is important to strengthen economic cooperation in the field of mining, livestock farming, veterinary and phytosanitary safety, and processing of agricultural products. We are especially interested in exporting environmentally friendly agricultural products produced in Kyrgyzstan to Mongolia. To do this, we need to solve transport and logistics issues,” said Nurlanbek Shakiev.
Further, the speaker, speaking about the development of cultural ties, proposed to erect a monument to the hero Manas and name one of the streets of Ulaanbaatar after him.
In turn, the Chairman of the Great State Khural of Mongolia Gombozhavyn Zandanshatar thanked Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Nurlanbek Shakiev for accepting the invitation and touched upon issues related to Kyrgyz-Mongolian relations.
Among other things, he emphasized that the main goal of the Mongolian side is to expand cooperation in the field of education, adding that it is planned to open a school named after Chyngyz Aitmatov in Mongolia. Gombozhavyn Zandanshatar also expressed his readiness to consider the initiative to name one of the streets after the outstanding writer. At the same time, he supported the proposal to import agricultural products from Kyrgyzstan and pointed out the need to actively study this issue.
As a result of the negotiations, the parties signed the regulations of the commission on cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries. The document is aimed at developing and deepening interparliamentary cooperation.
As part of the official visit, Speaker Nurlanbek Shakiev will also meet with President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh and Prime Minister Luvsannamsrain Oyuun-Erdene.
In addition, the speaker is scheduled to participate and speak in international conferences on the topic “Historical ties of the Kyrgyz people with Genghis Khan and his descendants”, as well as “Global leaders: building peace and justice.”
