Special rep of President meets with head of WB Office in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Aug. 29, 2024. / Kabar/. Special Representative of the President of Kyrgyzstan for the implementation of the Five Years of Action for the Development of Mountain Regions Dinara Kemelova held a meeting with Head of the World Bank Representative Office in the Kyrgyz Republic Hugh Riddell.

The presidential administration reported that during the meeting, issues of taking preventive measures and responding to natural disasters and cataclysms in mountainous areas, as well as the adaptation of agriculture and mountain settlements to climate change were discussed.

Particular attention was paid to the sustainable socio-economic development of mountainous regions, including the promotion of mountain products and tourism, as well as the protection of mountain ecosystems, including the snow leopard.

Dinara Kemelova informed the World Bank representative about the Five Years of Action for the Development of Mountain Regions for 2023-2027 and Kyrgyzstan's international initiatives on the mountain agenda.

The parties emphasized the importance of further cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the World Bank on current projects and expressed their readiness to work together within the framework of the Five Years of Action for the Development of Mountain Regions.
