State and prospects of Kyrgyz-Swiss partnership in trade and investment areas discussed in Bishkek

Bishkek, March 11, 2022. / Kabar /. Minister of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan Daniyar Amangeldiev met with the Swiss delegation headed by Dominique Paravicini, Head of the Economic Cooperation and Development Division and Delegate of the Federal Council for Trade Agreements at the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).

According to the press service of the ministry, at the meeting, the sides discussed the state and prospects of Kyrgyz-Swiss partnership in trade and investment areas.

The minister congratulated the Swiss delegation on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two states and noted that Switzerland provides significant support to the economic development of Kyrgyzstan, including through joint projects and programs.

During the meeting, issues of implementing the new Program of Cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Switzerland for 2022-2025 were also discussed. The Kyrgyz minister confirmed the readiness of the Kyrgyz side to provide all possible support to ongoing projects and programs in the country. He also informed the delegation about the ongoing socio-economic reforms and the implementation of the medium-term national program for the development of the country.

Paravicini noted that the purpose of the visit to Kyrgyzstan is to celebrate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations. He informed that the new strategy of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation is being reviewed, the cooperation strategy for Central Asia is being updated.

He noted about cooperation with Kyrgyzstan, which consists of three areas. These are inclusive and sustainable economic development, public administration and public services, water supply, which are relevant throughout the region, climate change issues.

The Swiss Confederation highly appreciates friendly relations with Kyrgyzstan. In this connection, he confirmed Switzerland's interest in supporting the country's socio-economic development, environmental protection and climate sustainability, conservation of glaciers and water resources and other priority areas of activity.

Paravicini also expressed readiness to provide support for sustainable tourism development projects, improve the business environment and investment climate.

The sides agreed to further enhance bilateral cooperation and implement joint projects.
