Development of state language is one of priority directions of our activity – Kyrgyz PM

Bishkek, Sept. 23, 2020 / Kabar /. The development of the state language is one of the priorities of the government of the Kyrgyz Republic, Prime Minister Kubatbek Boronov said at a regular briefing.

"Government officials in Kyrgyzstan must know the state language at a certain level,” he said and reminded about the Kyrgyztest system for determining the level of the state language for employees of different directions.

“According to the law, most of the documentation in government agencies is kept in the state language,” the prime minister added.

He also noted that the state language development program has been developed in Kyrgyzstan for 2021-2025, which is at the stage of signing.

The head of government also congratulated all Kyrgyzstanis on the Day of the State Language.

The State Language Day is celebrated annually on Sept. 23, as the Supreme Council of the Kyrgyz SSR adopted a law on the state language on this day in 1989, and the Kyrgyz language received the status of the state language.

Kyrgyzstan is a bilingual country. The state language is Kyrgyz and the official language is Russian.
