State Material Reserves Fund provides 8.2 thsd tons of flour as humanitarian aid to population

Bishkek, Aug. 21, 2020 / Kabar /. Since the beginning of the pandemic, information has been received around the world that, in parallel, a food shortage may occur in the country.

Deputy Chairman of the State Material Reserves Fund of Kyrgyzstan Rustam Karakulov said at a briefing that in this connection the government issued a secret order in early February to provide the population with flour.

“The fund was instructed to arrange 20 thousand tons of wheat grain and process it into flour. The first parties of humanitarian aid to the population were provided in the regions where the first foci of infection were recorded. In total, 8 thousand 200 tons of flour were supplied. In addition, humanitarian aid was provided in the form of sugar - 327 tons,” Karakulov said.

He noted that Kyrgyzstan also provided humanitarian assistance to residents of two regions of Tajikistan - 200 tons of flour and the Pamir Kyrgyz - 25 tons of flour.
