Bishkek, Dec.24, 2019. /Kabar/. Karatal-Zhapyryk State Natural Reserve (Kyrgyzstan) and Katun Nature Reserve (Russia) signed an agreement on mutual scientific cooperation, the press service of the State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry (SAEPF) said.
The signing ceremony was held at the Gorno-Altaisk State University within the framework of the "Transboundary Regions in Conditions of Global Changes: Modern Challenges and Development Perspectives" International Scientific and Practical Conference, which brought together scientists and employees of specially protected natural areas of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Bhutan, India, Estonia, Switzerland and different parts of Russia.
The purpose of this agreement is joint study, conservation and restoration of biological diversity of plants and animals, implementation of research programs through scientific, technical and educational cooperation.
The agreement was signed under a memorandum of understanding between the State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation on cooperation in the field of environmental protection, signed in Cholpon-Ata on Sep.27, 2014.
