Bishkek, Jan. 21, 2021. /Kabar/. In Kyrgyzstan, the distribution of women and men by type of activity and occupation group predetermined a higher educational level of employed women, the National Statistics Committee reported.
In 2019 in the total number of employed, the share of women with higher professional education was 27%, the share of men - 18%, secondary professional education, respectively, 17% and 8%.
Male employment prevails in activities and occupations where secondary or incomplete secondary education is sufficient, but vocational training is necessary.
As of the beginning of the 2019/2020 academic year, women accounted for 52% of students at higher vocational educational institutions and 56% of students at secondary vocational educational institutions. At the same time, there is a traditional predominance of girls in such professions as education, technology of consumer goods, healthcare, culture, art, and service.
Meanwhile, men choose professions related to mechanical engineering and metalworking, processing of forest resources, development of minerals, construction and architecture, electronic engineering, and energy.
Traditionally highly presented the proportion of female students in higher vocational education: education (86% of the total number of students), humanities (about 80%), services (63%), natural sciences (58%). At the same time, men mainly choose professions related to architecture and construction (79%), technical (64%) and agricultural sciences (75%), law (63%).
The number of postgraduate students increased by almost 26% compared to 2015, and in 2019 made 2.5 thousand people, while the number of doctoral students was 159 people and, in contrast, decreased by 3%.
