Bishkek, June 6, 2018 /Kabar/. During the last few days a protest action of white ribbons "We are for Women's Rights" has been holding in Bishkek, initiated by public figure, TV host Assol Moldokmatova.
The women, whose fates were broken down, publish their stories in social networks and call on everyone to join the action, which will be held this Saturday, June 9.
Moldokmatova told about difficult life vicissitudes of fellow citizens because of the so-called ritual "ala-kachuu” (bride kidnapping):
The first story:
- I lived with my husband for 12 years, and it was real - Hell. I grew up in the city, but I was kidnapped to the village. My mother-in-law humiliated me at all, forced to go out in the cold to hang out clothes and boil samovar. The husband brutally tortured me that there were no places left from scars on my body. As a result, two children with a broken psyche. My life is broken, I see no reason to live. Sometimes I wanted to kill him at night. I divorced, spitting upon on everybody, my parents still blaming me ... - Jyldyz, 42 years old.
The second story:
- I am 48 years old. I live in Naryn, I have three children. I was kidnapped at my 17. My parents told me to live, or I will disgrace the whole family. I live without love, drinks-beats! And you know, I hate him, and the children grew up too, not liking their father, he beat them to death. I am also with you, I'll come to the action, so that little girls are not kidnapped ... - Dinara, 48 years old
The third story:
- My family has many children and I was stolen by agreement. My relatives were given a bride price of 25 thousand soms ( about $360) and a cow. I cried for half a year, asked to take me away, and my mother said that I was not patient and I had to be patient. I drank the vinegar, now I am a cripple. I escaped from my husband, now I live in Russia and I hate everyone. Parents could take me, but they did not want, how I can live now? Umitai, 26 years old
The fourth story:
- I was kidnapped 17 years ago. I was returning from the university home, on the way I was dragged into the car and brought to some house. On the same night, I was raped by an old man, who became my "husband" for this night. He was a widower, and he was told about me that I was a bride for marriage. I went to my friend, because I knew that my parents would say "It’s a shame, what do people will say." They then tried to return me to him, it turns out, that I "disgraced" the family. I tried to suicide myself.
I gained strength, finished my studies and flew abroad. So far, I live alone in Italy, I work, but there is no happiness, that night is constantly remembered. I do not let the men in, I'm afraid that they will insult, offend. I do not want girls to be hurt by obscurantists. These are all remnants of the past. I'm with you mentally, just want the girls of our country were happy and did not experience that feelings that I had ... Elvira, 36 years old.
Moldokmatova appealed to President Sooronbay Jeenbekov with a request to toughen the punishment of criminal liability for kidnapping brides, coercion for marriage, violence.
