Tajik side began shelling Kyrgyz village with mortars

At about 21:17, during the negotiations between the border representatives of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, the border guards of Tajikistan, who arrived at the scene of the incident as a reinforcement, opened fire on the servicemen of the Border Service of Kyrgyzstan.

A shootout lasted about 30 minutes, the report said.

During the repeated firefight, a serviceman of the Kyrgyz Border Service was wounded.

Further, the Tajik side began shelling the Kyrgyz village of Dostuk with mortars.

The Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic calls on Tajik colleagues to prevent the escalation of the situation on the jointly guarded border and stop shelling civilians.
