Tajik side starts mortar shelling several villages of one more oblast of Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Sept. 17, 2022. / Kabar /. Violating the ceasefire agreement, at 12:37 local time the Tajik side began shelling, by using mortars and artillery mounts, the positions of the Kyrgyz border guards in the village of Teshik-Tash, Karamyk and Karool-Dobo in Osh Oblast.

The press service of the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan said that the Kyrgyz border units, stationed in the Osh region, returned fire.

However, in order to de-escalate the incident, the Kyrgyz servicemen were the first to unilaterally stop firing, the report said.

Negotiations between the border representatives of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan are currently expected.

The clashes on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border started on September 14.

Earlier, the Tajik side attacked border guarding and civilian infrastructure objects of Kyrgyzstan along the perimeter of the state border in Batken Oblast.
