Tashkent to host SCO People's Diplomacy Forum

Tashkent, May 7, 2022 / Kabar /. Within the framework of the activities of the chairmanship of Uzbekistan in the SCO, a Forum will be held on May 11-12 this year under the motto "People's diplomacy - mutual understanding for the sake of development."

The press service of the Center for Public Diplomacy of Uzbekistan told Kabar that it is expected that Chairperson of the Senate of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva, Deputy Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China, Chairperson of the Chinese Committee of the SCO on Good-Neighbourliness, Friendship and Cooperation Shen Yueyue and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov will greet the forum participants.

During the two plenary sessions, the participants will discuss ways to effectively use the tools of public diplomacy in strengthening multifaceted ties between the countries of the "SCO family".

Following the results of the forum of public diplomacy of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Tashkent communique of public diplomacy of the SCO will be adopted.

More than 120 participants are expected representing the parliaments of the SCO countries, including from Kyrgyzstan and international organizations, NGOs, as well as research and analytical centers.

The first SCO Public Diplomacy Center was opened in January 2019 in Tashkent. The initiative to create this institution was announced by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev during the summit of the organization in June 2017 in Astana.
