Teachers from CIS countries discuss safety of education environment in Bishkek

Bishkek, Oct. 15, 2018. /Kabar/. The 5th Congress of Teachers and Educators from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) was held in Bishkek from 10 to 13 October.

The main topic of discussion on the platform was the development of educational systems in the Commonwealth in the context of sustainable development goals.

During the sessions, scientists and teachers voiced the challenges, problems and approaches to the formation of a safe educational environment at the school level, and also shared experience gained in recent years.

Representatives of Kyrgyzstan, as part of their participation in the Congress, spoke about the measures taken in the country to develop school infrastructure and create a favorable environment, which is generally aimed at socializing and developing civic engagement of students.

They said that the activities aimed at creating a safe and tolerant educational environment began to be introduced in pilot schools. In particular, the Development of Financial Mechanisms for a Safe Educational Environment at Schools in the Kyrgyz Republic project began to be implemented jointly with the BIOM Ecological Movement, Kyrgyzstan, Adenauer Foundation, Germany, and with the financial support of the European Union.

In addition, delegates from the CIS countries made presentations and shared their experiences and achievements in creating a safe educational environment in educational institutions.

The sessions were attended by an international expert on interactive teaching methods, Ph.D. in Psychology, a lecturer at Moscow State University, Elena Likhacheva, who conducted a workshop for participants on “Interactive Teaching Methods and Imitation Games in the Education System for Sustainable Development”.

Areas of interest for Likhacheva are the issues of psychological support for conducting imitation games, the selection and decision-making in imitation games. The use of such games, including those developed by herself, by teachers in the classroom and extracurricular activities with children and young people, will allow students to form the competencies necessary to live in the modern world and build a sustainable future.
