Technical problems at CEC website did not affect elections results: Secretary Council

Bishkek, Nov. 30, 2021. / Kabar /. Technical malfunctions of the CEC website had no impact on the vote count, Secretary of the Security Council of Kyrgyzstan Marat Imankulov said in an interview with Ala-Too 24.

He added that there was a clear task from President Sadyr Zhaparov to control the whole election process in order to prevent any violations from both the CEC and participating political forces.

"For better security of the CEC servers, we strengthened the security around them so that no one could get in. In the evening on Nov. 28 (the election day) Chairwoman of the CEC Nurzhan Shaildabekova reported on hacker attacks on the servers. But during the first inspection, there were no malfunctions of the online monitors.

Shaildabekova noted the servers are protected by three layers of protection and are not easy to hack. As for the "malfunction," it was due to technical problems when placing information from the servers on the screens. I can responsibly say that these technical problems have nothing to do with the results of the election," he said.

Continuing, Imankulov noted the electronic results are only preliminary results, adding that the manual counting of votes is considered the official results.

After parliamentary elections on Nov. 28, there were malfunctions on the CEC website, where preliminary results are published from screened ballot boxes. After it was corrected, the numbers changed. Head of CEC Nurzhan Shaildabekova explained that the error on the website was due to the incorrect operation of the formula, which was immediately corrected.
