Embassy of Hungary officially opened in Bishkek

Bishkek, Feb.19, 2020./Kabar/. The Hungarian Embassy has been opened on Feb.19 in the Kyrgyz capital city of Bishkek.

The Embassy's opening ceremony was attended by Kyrgyzstan' Foreign Minister Chingiz Aidarbekov and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trafe of Hungary Péter Szijjártó.

Speaking at the event, Minister Aidarbekov emphasized that the Kyrgyz side highly appreciates the establishment of the Hungarian diplomatic mission in Kyrgyzstan, which has an important and practical purpose.

He expressed confidence that by joint efforts the sides will bring cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Hungary to a new strategic level of relations with high potential, the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry reported.

"I am confident that the decision of the Hungarian leadership to open an embassy will bring our peoples closer and give an additional impetus to our cooperation.

Hungary is a brotherly country for Kyrgyzstan, our countries have long historical and cultural ties. Our peoples have a lot in common and kinship, which creates a favorable base for their further deepening," Aidarbekov said.

The Kyrgyz FM also noted the active participation of the Hungarian side in the World Nomad Games, adding that close political dialogue has been established between the countries.

He said about the planned official visit of Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov to Hungary this year.

Today, Feb. 19 Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó has paid official visit to Kyrgyzstan.

During the one-day visit, the Hungarian FM held bilateral meetings with President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov, Foreign Minister Chingiz Aidarbekov, and heads of several ministries of the Kyrgyz Republic.

During the meetings, issues of implementation of agreements on the results of the first meeting of the Kyrgyz-Hungarian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, held in September 2019, as well as on further expansion and deepening of Kyrgyz-Hungarian cooperation through the organization of the visit of President Sooronbay Jeenbekov to Hungary in the first half of 2020 were discussed.

The extended format meeting of FMs Aidarbekov and Szijjártó resulted in signing the Program of Cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic and Hungary for 2020-2021.
