Kyrgyz truck drivers returning to homeland as their issue resolved: Government

Bishkek, March 23, 2020./Kabar/. The issue of Kyrgyz truck drivers has been resolved and they are returning to their homeland.

According to Kyrgyzstan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this is 60 truck drivers who were forced to stay on the territory of Iran because of the closure of borders by Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, the press service of the Government said.

Currently, 21 out of 60 drivers are on the territory of Russia and are heading towards the Russian-Kazakh border, to the Karaozek checkpoint.

10 trucks are waiting to cross the Samur checkpoint on the border of Azerbaijan with Russia. 25 cars are heading to the Kyrgyz Republic through Kazakhstan's territory.

Another driver is placed under quarantine after crossing the Kazakh-Russian border, as he is a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic recalls the issue is under special control and the drivers are kept in constant contact.
