Bishkek, Feb. 10, 2022. / Kabar /. There are 108 veterans of the Great Patriotic War left in Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the Ministry of Labor, Social Security and Migration of the country reported.

According to data of the ministry, veterans of the Great Patriotic War receive a monthly payment of KGS 7,000, as well as an annual lump sum payment and a monthly lifetime scholarship of the president of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Unfortunately, the number of veterans is decreasing every year, which is associated with natural decline. If, as of April 1, 2020, the number of WWII veterans was 241 people, today it is 108 people.

Social support for veterans of the Great Patriotic War, home front workers, families of fallen soldiers in the Second World War is carried out in the form of monthly and annual lump-sum payments financed from the republican budget.

The war between the USSR and Germany became part of World War II, which began in 1939. About 360 thousand people from the Kyrgyz SSR took part in the war, of which 160 thousand died.
