There are 185 refugees and 603 asylum seekers in Kyrgyzstan

Currently, there are 185 refugees, 603 asylum seekers, and more than 1,500 kairylman (ethnic Kyrgyz who have resettled or with to resettle in Kyrgyzstan) in Kyrgyzstan, Minister of Labor, Social Security and Migration of the republic Kudaibergen Bazarbayev said during a seminar in Osh city.

He noted the Labor Ministry works directly with the most vulnerable segments of the country's population, kairylman and refugees.

"The total number of ethnic Kyrgyz who have immigrated to Kyrgyzstan since 1991 is more than 75,000, and it is our duty to take them under our control, to work with them, to help them. We also need to work with ethnic Kyrgyz, refugees who come to the country and ask for help, they need to be clearly explained the procedures for obtaining refugee and kairylman statuses, their duties and rights, as well as provide as much assistance as possible," the minister added.

Bazarbayev also thanked the UNHCR office for its assistance in conducting a training seminar for employees.
