There are 323 HIV-infected convicts in closed institutions of the State Service for Punishment Execution of the Kyrgyz Republic, Nazgul Soltobekova, the head of medical department of the SSPE told at the meeting of the Coordination Council on reforming the criminal-executive system of Kyrgyzstan.
According to her data, 292 of them are receiving ARV therapy.
She also reported that in the colonies of the Kyrgyz Republic there are 152 convicts suffering from tuberculosis.
"Given the way of transmission of tuberculosis, such patients are kept separately in a hospital in Colony No. 31," Soltobekova said.
