There are about 8,500 drug users in Kyrgyzstan, 7% of them - women

There are about 8.5 thousand drug users in Kyrgyzstan, 7% of them are women, deputy director for treatment work of the Republican Center of Psychiatry and Narcology of the Kyrgyz Republic Zhyldyz Bakirova said at a press conference during the launch of the seventh phase of the Central Asia Drug Action Programme (CADAP).

The specialist added that currently there are no statistics as such. This is due to the fact that the population is divided into two large groups:

-individuals who consume drugs;

- those who are addicted.

Bakirova also noted that the Republican Center for Psychiatry has clear protocols and guidelines for the treatment of drug addicts in the 5-6 phases of the Central Asia Drug Action Programme (CADAP).

"In addition, the program has done work in 4 major areas, namely legislation and drug policy, addiction treatment, monitoring and analysis, and prevention," Bakirova pointed out.
