Bishkek, Feb. 8, 2019. / Kabar /. There are no camps for the political education of the people in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (XUAR) of China, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Kyrgyz Republic, Xiao Qinghua told in Bishkek at a meeting with journalists.

He noted that the situation in XUAR is an internal affair of China.

“What the activists spoke at rallies is not true. We must believe the official position of the government of XUAR. There are no camps of political re-education. Yes, we have created an institution of educational training. It is necessary for stability. This is most important. Without stability, there is no development. The people receive education, professional skills, learn language in these institutions. In order to find a job in future. After graduation, they will live in abundance. They will be busy working. They will get legal knowledge. No one detains them there,” he explained.

Xiao Qinghua added that educational institutions are also needed to take preventive measures in the fight against terrorism and extremism.

He also stressed that there are Kyrgyz people in XUAR, but they are not citizens of Kyrgyzstan.

“At the meetings here people believe that the Kyrgyz living there are their compatriots. But these are citizens of China and their rights are protected,” the ambassador added.
