Bishkek, June 1, 2022. / Kabar /. There were 5.4 thousand orphans in Kyrgyzstan in 2021, the National Statistical Committee of the country reported.
So, at the end of 2021, 13.7 thousand children were brought up in families, of which 5.4 thousand were orphans, including 8.3 thousand in guardianship and 5.4 thousand children - adopted.
During 2021, 2.2 thousand children and adolescents under the age of 18 were identified as left without parental care, of which 790 are orphans.
“In 2021, 1,670 children were accepted for upbringing in a family under guardianship, 638 were adopted, of which 633 children were Kyrgyz families and 5 children were foreign citizens.
In orphanages and boarding schools for orphans in 2021, there were about 1,000 orphans and children left without parental care.
