Thermal imagers and round-the-clock sanitary-epidemiological stations work at borders in Kyrgyzstan due coronavirus in China

Bishkek, Jan. 22, 2020. / Kabar /. Kyrgyzstan installed thermal imagers and round-the-clock sanitary and epidemiological points at checkpoints on the border with China, director of the Department of Disease Prevention of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance Tolo Isakov told Kabar.

He said that these measures were introduced at the Erkeshtam, Torugart checkpoints and at the airports of Bishkek and Osh.

“Thermal imagers measure a person’s temperature at a distance with suspected infectious diseases. If the screen shows that the silhouette of a person has a fever, he will be examined by the epidemiologists at the point where they will determine if the person has suspicions of an infectious disease. If this is confirmed, the patient will be immediately hospitalized in a hospital,” Isakov said.

He noted that now there are no cases of coronavirus recorded in the country. “The World Health Organization does not recommend introducing restrictions on the import of goods or the entry of citizens from China, where there was an outbreak of pneumonia of unknown etymology. Also tomorrow, China will close its borders in connection with the celebration of the new year, we will have additional time to take additional measures. At present, the epidemiological situation is under control in the country,” Isakov said.

In total more than 200 cases of infection with a new type of coronavirus were registered in China, of which 218 were in Wuhan, five in Beijing, one in Shanghai, 14 in Guangdong. Also, 14 doctors became infected.

The virus has already spread outside of China; infections have been reported in South Korea, Japan and Thailand.

Experts in China have confirmed that coronavirus is transmitted from person to person.

At the end of December last year, Chinese authorities reported an outbreak of pneumonia of unknown origin in Wuhan. Experts found that the causative agent of the disease was a new type of coronavirus - NCoV. NCoV can cause pneumonia, an inflammation of the lung tissue. Infected people complain of shortness of breath, coughing, shortness of breath, and fever. The first patient with coronavirus died on Jan. 9. To date, three people have died from coronavirus.

Today, January 22, the World Health Organization convened an emergency meeting of the emergency committee in connection with the outbreak of a new coronavirus. “The committee will meet in Geneva to find out if the outbreak is an international public health emergency,” a WHO press release said.
