Three Kyrgyz MPs propose to convene extraordinary session of parliament

Bishkek, July 14, 2020 / Kabar /. Several deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh proposed to convene an extraordinary meeting of the parliament.

In particular, deputies Natalya Nikitenko, Ryskeldi Mombekov and Zhanar Akayev sent an appeal to the name of Speaker Dastanbek Dzhumabekov.

The press service of the Jogorku Kenesh responded in what cases a session can be hold.

“According to the regulations of the Jogorku Kenesh, in the period between sessions of the parliament, the speaker has the right to convene an extraordinary session of the Jogorku Kenesh only at the proposal of the president of the Kyrgyz Republic, the government of the Kyrgyz Republic or at least one third of the deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh,” the press service said.

It also added that the proposal to convene an extraordinary session should be sent to the speaker indicating the reasons, the issues proposed for consideration and the date and time of the meeting.
