Bishkek, Aug. 23, 2017. / Kabar /. Three landscape zones will be created In Kyrgyzstan to protect the snow leopard and its habitat, Almaz Musayev, director of the Department for Protection and Use of Natural Resources under the State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry told today at a press conference in Bishkek.
He said that all countries of the range of habitat of the snow leopard accepted a strategy for its preservation. A protected area was defined.
"It is planned to create 23 landscape zones and three of them will be in Kyrgyzstan. We created specially protected areas such as Khan- Tengri, Kanarchu and Alatai as a part of the strategy. Also it is planned to open in natural areas of Osh oblast, where the main concentration of leopards,” he said.
The International Snow Leopard & Ecosystem Forum will be held in Kyrgyzstan on August 24-25.
