Bishkek, Oct.24, 2019. /Kabar/. The Toktogul HPP has undergone the next stage of technical reconstruction, Taalaibek Bektenov, technical director of the Electric Power Plants OJSC told during the press conference at Kabar News Agency.
He said modernization of the 500 kV open switchgear has been completed at the HPP.
“This will increase the reliability of energy supply to consumers of Kyrgyzstan. Timely and high quality implementation of all scheduled maintenance works allowed extending the service life of this equipment by 1.5 times,” the director said.
Reconstruction of 500 kV open switchgear with replacement of all equipment that has completed its standard service life has increased the reliability of electricity transmission.
Four 500 kV unit transformers with a capacity of 400 MVA have been installed at the Toktogul HPP since its commissioning.
The reconstruction will allow to carry out further works on modernization of the HPP with the increase of the installed capacity of the station over 1,200 MW. This will make it possible to increase the reliability of equipment operation and ensure stable power supply to consumers in the conditions of annual growth of loads and consumption.
Reliable operation of this device guarantees stable operation of the entire power system of the country.
